Joint Effort to Promote Innovation and Development of English Assessment in the New Era – A Memorandum of Understanding on Co-founding Innovation Centre was signed by China’s National Education Examinations Authority and Cambridge Assessment English
In January 2021, a memorandum of understanding on Co-founding Innovation Centre was signed, by Ms. Francesca Woodward, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Assessment English and Mr. Zheng Yihui, Vice President of National Education Examinations Authority, on behalf of the two organisations. This memorandum is made upon the foundation of years’ collaboration between the two organisations, for the purpose of establishing a joint innovation centre, promoting the innovation and development of English language assessment in the new era.
Cambridge Assessment English has been working closely with National Education Examinations Authority, China, since the early 1990s. The two organisations jointly organised Cambridge English Qualifications from young leaners to C2 Proficiency, Cambridge English Qualification Business and IELTS in China.
The objective of the Innovation Centre is to unite, innovate and impact. The innovation Centre will endeavor to improve English teacher assessment literacy, to provide guidance for examination practitioners, to promote the application of the China’s Standards of English Language Ability, and to encourage innovation in English language assessment.
Guided by the General Plan for Deepening the Reform of Education Evaluation in the New Era issued by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the two organisations will work together through a series of collaboration, to promote the reform and development of foreign language education and assessment.
